Garden Buddies planted seeds in the kindergarten classrooms today! Children made labels with popsicle sticks, filled their pots with soil, then planted and watered the seeds. We planted seeds that will make delicious snacks when they grow: tomatoes, nasturtiums, basil, and cucumber. After planting, everyone reflected on the process in their journals.

Kids in Bloom kicked off today with community volunteers joining Grade 3 classes at Prince Street School to plant seeds and record their observations. The snack fairy arrived shortly before lunch with gluten-free Magic Bean Brownies. Contact us if you would like to volunteer. Magic Bean Brownies RecipeToday, the Snack Fairy brought carrot muffins for the Garden Buddies to eat. Then, the Garden Buddies took a deeper look into where the carrots came from. Our journey started at the Legacy Garden in Charlottetown, where we found carrots growing in the ground! We loosened the carrots and pulled them right out of the soil! The Snack Fairy said the carrots needed to be washed and grated before "magicking" them into muffins. It turns out that the recipes are magic! If you follow the instructions, and add the right ingredients, carrots can turn into carrot muffins!
